SITEVI 2023

SITEVI 2023 confirms its major role for the sector

SITEVI 2023, held in Montpellier from 28 to 30 November 2023, once again confirmed its crucial role for all professionals in the vine, wine, olive and fruit-growing sectors.

Over the space of three days, the exhibition welcomed 1,000 exhibitors (up 11% on 2021) and recorded

54,700 admissions, up 7% on the previous edition.

SITEVI 2023, whose vibrancy, conviviality and diversity were praised by all the exhibitors and visitors, enabled everyone, in a challenging period, to gain a better understanding of market trends, discover innovations, share best practices and gear up to meet all the economic, social and environmental challenges of today and tomorrow.

This major role was further endorsed by the attendance of the main institutional players and, in particular, by the visit on Thursday 30 November of Marc Fesneau, Minister for Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. In addition, Arnaud Rousseau - Chairman of the FNSEA, and his first Vice-Chairman Jérôme Despey, Arnaud Gaillot - Chairman of the Young Farmers, and Bernard Angelras - Chairman of the IFV, toured the stands with Damien Dubrulle - Chairman of the AXEMA agricultural equipment association. Representatives of winegrowing, research and industry were also on hand to look ahead to the future of the sector.

More than ever, SITEVI has asserted itself as the key event for exchanging and sharing ideas, where strategic decisions are taken.

SITEVI REINFORCES ITS GLOBAL LEADERSHIP

With 1,000 exhibitors, including 240 newcomers and 24% international exhibitors, SITEVI has strengthened its global leadership. The same trend was noted in terms of visitor numbers. SITEVI welcomed a substantial number of foreign visitors, up 11% on the previous edition, from 73 countries (compared with 61 in 2021), with Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Portugal the leading countries represented, alongside Argentina, Mexico, the United States, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Canada, Greece and Georgia, among others. This trend is further proof of the appeal and diversity of the exhibition's offering. The show also recorded a 22% increase in visitors from the northern regions of France.

A CATALYST FOR INNOVATION

Innovation is an integral part of SITEVI's DNA. The exhibition plays a key role in bringing together industry players, exhibitors and experts in the same place, at the same time, to showcase the latest technologies.

The SITEVI Innovation Awards highlighted the sector's most striking innovations in line with market demand: digital technology and its applications; assistance with driving, productivity and safety; environmental impact and net zero transition of farming. Of the 106 entries received (80% more than in 2021), the jury initially shortlisted 37 products, and 21 were awarded prizes (1 Special Award, 2 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals and 12 Bronze medals).

“The Sitevi Innovation Awards shine a light on technological solutions accessible to users, as evidenced by the gold medal and the judges’ special award. The transformation of vine and winegrowing disciplines in their everyday tasks, thanks to innovation, is at the heart of this roll of honour. It therefore contributed to the appeal of occupations in the sector. More than ever, innovation holds a lot of hope and potential for the future!” commented Christophe Riou, Chief Executive of IFV and Chairman of the Sitevi Innovation Awards.

“The SITEVI remains an unmissable event for the teams at ICV. The 2023 edition was a particularly busy show with a lot of discussions on our stand. Winning the Gold medal in the SITEVI Innovation Awards for our DYNA WINE innovation earned us new visitors, including the Minister of Agriculture! Well done to the organisers of this fine exhibition,” said François Nathan-Hudson, Head of Marketing and Sales at Groupe ICV.

Meanwhile, LABTECH, a new development at the 2023 show, organised in partnership with Agri Sud-Ouest Innovation, La Ferme Digitale and La WineTech, gathered 16 companies that exhibited their innovations new solutions, and new technologies with the aim of catering to workforce shortages, improving productivity or enhancing working conditions.

On Wednesday 29 November, an exclusive gathering was held between investors, start-ups, manufacturer exhibitors and top buyers, to accelerate the growth of these businesses specialising in new technology.

AN ABUNDANCE OF CONTENT TO PROVIDE PRACTICAL ANSWERS

On a backdrop of profoundly changing markets, SITEVI 2023 laid on an array of highlights and special features to enlighten, analyse and support visitors in search of practical answers to improve their everyday activity:

  • The 54 talks and workshops, organised by IFV and the show’s partners attracted a big following, drawing more than 2,900 attendees and nearly 200 speakers. Of particular note was the success of the talks with themes at the heart of strategic challenges such as agroecology, climate change, equipment and new technology, resistant variety oenology, organic winegrowing, etc.
  • The tastingmasterclasses gave an opportunity to 1,035 visitors to discover the diversity of regions and new trends (consumer changes, resistant grape varieties, olive oil varieties, almonds from the south of France, etc.).

AN EVENT FOR BUSINESS AND JOB DISCIPLINES

Despite a challenging environment, the professionals from these farming sectors congregated at SITEVI with a large amount of projects to bring to fruition. Consequently, the Business Meetings between visitors with projects and exhibitors turned out to be a huge success, with 650 appointments scheduled. They allowed visitors to save time, meet new suppliers and find appropriate solutions to bring their projects to life.

In parallel, occupations in these sectors and their recruitment needs were highlighted throughout the show:

  • The Job Dating Area: meetings organised by Jobagri and Vitijob gave employers and candidates an opportunity to meet up.
  • For the first time, SITEVI offered exhibitors, in association with HelloWork, a dedicated online platform on which to post their vacancies free of charge. This made it possible to concentrate all vacancies in a single place and send them exclusively to the interested professional visitors.
  • The APRODEMA association (for the promotion of farming occupations) accompanied more than 300 secondary school pupils to the stands of exhibitors to spark off vocations among young people and advocate for the appeal of jobs in these farming sectors.

Supported by the Occitanie/Pyrénées Méditerranée Regional Council, backed by the loyalty of its exhibitors and visitors, SITEVI has once again asserted its status as the essential and unavoidable event for everyone in its ecosystem.

See you again in 2025!
